About Us

American Steaders began as a simple dream in the early days of our marriage—to raise our kids on a small piece of land where they could learn the value of hard work, build character, and discover the joys of a life connected to the land. We wanted more than just fresh food; we wanted to pass on a way of life that’s slowly fading—one rooted in purpose, responsibility, and hands-on learning. What started as a vision became real when we planted our first garden on a one-acre plot and watched tiny seeds grow into something meaningful.

From that humble garden, our homesteading journey expanded to include laying hens and broilers. We faced our fair share of challenges—overgrown weeds, poor soil, watering issues, and losing chickens to both the cold and a particularly determined raccoon. But through every failure and hard lesson, we gained experience and resilience. We didn’t know everything when we started, but our willingness to learn and grow has fueled our passion ever since. Along the way, we've discovered that the joy of homesteading multiplies when it's shared with others.

That’s why American Steaders exists—not to compete, but to contribute. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel; we’re here to be part of the incredible community of homesteaders across the country. Our goal is to support, connect, and encourage others on their own homesteading journeys. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned grower, we hope to offer something of value—be it knowledge, inspiration, or simply camaraderie. Let’s learn from each other, celebrate the wins, and face the setbacks together.

Welcome to American Steaders!
